New English-Taught Bachelor's Degree in Robot Systems to Open in Kalundborg

The new programme will become Absalon's third engineering degree programme in Kalundborg and has been requested by industry for several years. 

Robotics is an important next step for Kalundborg

Kalundborg has developed into one of Denmark’s strongest environments for bioproduction and process industry. At the same time, a growing educational ecosystem has been established around the city’s companies.

"With our Bachelor of Engineering programmes in Biotechnology (English-taught) and Mechanical Engineering (Danish-taught), we have already built a strong engineering environment in Kalundborg. Robotics is the natural next step. The programme adds competencies within automation, digitalisation and intelligent production systems, thereby addressing an important need in both the local educational environment and the development currently taking place across industry." International talent is key

The programme will be offered in English in order to attract both Danish and international students.

Among graduates from Absalon’s English-taught Bachelor of Engineering in Biotechnology, 73% of international graduates are employed in Denmark after graduation, while a further 14% continue to master's or PhD studies.

The opportunity to establish the new programme is linked to the 2025 reform of professionally oriented higher education, through which 800 international STEM study places were allocated nationally.

The new STEM places make it possible to educate more of the specialists that companies are requesting, while at the same time strengthening Denmark’s position within advanced production and technological development. The Robot Systems programme in Kalundborg is a concrete example of how educational reform can be translated into competencies, growth and development," says Daniel Schwartz Bojsen. 

Part of the future Campus Kalundborg

With more than 1,000 students, Kalundborg is already a significant higher education hub. When the new Campus Kalundborg opens in 2028, the educational environment will be strengthened even further through a shared campus bringing together six educational institutions in close proximity to industry.

Campus Kalundborg is supported by more than DKK 300 million from the Novo Nordisk Foundation and Novo Nordisk A/S and will create new opportunities for education, research and innovation in close collaboration with Kalundborg’s industry, which is internationally recognised for its world-leading industrial symbiosis.
