Interested in robotics, automation, programming and AI – and in making technology work in the real world?
The Bachelor of Engineering in Robot Systems at University College Absalon is an English-taught engineering degree that prepares you for a career in robotics, automation and intelligent industrial production.
You will learn how robots, software, sensors, control systems, data and AI work together as part of larger production systems. You will work with different types of robotics – from physical robots and drones to software-based and digital robots.
The focus is not simply on designing a robot. It is on understanding, integrating and improving the complete system around it – and making sure the technology works safely, reliably and effectively in practice.
The programme starts in September 2027 and is taught in Kalundborg, Denmark, close to some of the country's most advanced industrial production environments.
Studying close to leading companies gives you opportunities to work with real-world technologies, industry challenges and practical cases throughout your education.
As part of the Bachelor of Engineering in Robot Systems, you will complete a full-time engineering internship worth 30 ECTS during your fifth semester.
The internship gives you the opportunity to put your skills into practice in a professional environment and gain first-hand experience of working as an engineer. You will experience how engineers collaborate across disciplines, how technical decisions are made, and how robotics and automation are used to solve real-world industrial challenges.
Working in a company also gives you valuable insight into the engineering profession and the role of robotics and automation in modern production. At the same time, you can build your professional network and gain experience that can help prepare you for your future career.
In the final part of the programme, you will take advanced engineering subjects and electives and complete your bachelor project. The project is based on a practical engineering challenge and may be carried out in collaboration with a company or as part of a development project.
With a Bachelor of Engineering in Robot Systems, your competencies can be used across industries where companies are introducing, operating and improving automated systems – from advanced manufacturing and logistics to life science, food production and other technology-intensive industries.
As a robot systems engineer, you could work with industrial robotics, automation solutions, autonomous systems, AI, computer vision and production optimisation. You could also work as a robotics or automation consultant, helping companies identify suitable technologies and assess the feasibility, benefits and profitability of introducing robotics and automation into production.
Career opportunities include roles such as robotics engineer, automation engineer, systems integrator and automation consultant.
The degree also provides a foundation for further engineering studies.
According to IDA, the recommended minimum salary for newly graduated engineers with a Bachelor of Engineering degree is DKK 45,300 per month before tax in 2026.
Kalundborg is home to some of Denmark's most advanced industrial production environments and a strong cluster of international companies within life science, biotechnology, energy and manufacturing.
As a student in Kalundborg, you will study close to industries where automation, digital technologies and advanced production systems are part of everyday operations. This creates opportunities to connect your engineering education with real-world technologies and industrial challenges.
Throughout your education, you may meet industry through project work, company visits, guest lectures, mentorship programmes and internships, giving you valuable insight into how engineering and automation are used in practice.
