What is teaching and learning like at Absalon?

Studying at Absalon may be different from what you are used to. Teaching is generally informal, collaborative and based on active participation.

The relationship between students and lecturers is relatively informal, and you will normally address your lecturers by their first name. Asking questions, sharing your views and approaching your lecturers for guidance are all considered a natural part of studying.

You are expected to take responsibility for your own learning by preparing for classes, participating in discussions and group work and contributing your own perspectives. Critical thinking and open discussion are important, and you are welcome to respectfully disagree with both lecturers and fellow students.
Where can I get help and study guidance?

Once you have been admitted to University College Absalon, our Student Guidance team can support you throughout your studies.

You can contact a student adviser if you have questions or concerns related to your studies, well-being or student life. This may include academic, personal or social matters that affect your studies.

As a student, you can also book an individual 30-minute guidance session with a student counsellor.
Can I get Special Educational Support (SPS)?

You may be eligible for Special Educational Support (SPS) if you have a documented disability or condition that affects your ability to study.

Support may, for example, be available if you have dyslexia, ADHD, anxiety, a visual or hearing impairment or another documented condition.

You will get access to Studienet when you start your studies, and we recommend checking it regularly throughout your time at Absalon.
When and how do I get my student card?

As a student at Absalon, you will receive a student card. Your student card identifies you as an Absalon student and may be used to access buildings, facilities and other student services.

You will receive information about how to obtain and activate your student card when you start your studies.
