Research Environment

Pedagogical work with families, children, and marginalization

We create new pedagogical and educational knowledge and methods for working with families, children, and vulnerability to enhance wellbeing and live opportunities.

Our ambition is to contribute to pedagogues’ knowledge, pedagogical judgement, and cross-professional cooperation, and how it strengthens families and children’s wellbeing and life opportunities.

Focus Areas

The research environment focuses on pedagogical work with families, children, and marginalization.

We address the challenge in pedagogical practice of how to create supportive environments, opportunities, and living conditions for all. With a strong interest in work with children aged 0–6 and the many facets of childhood, our research provides practice-based knowledge on how well-being and communities can be fostered for diverse children and families.

We pay close attention to the ways in which societal factors, past, and present, shape the lives of children and families — including social inequality and vulnerability — and to the pedagogical opportunities and dilemmas that arise in practice. Our work contributes to pedagogues’ knowledge, professional judgement, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, exploring how these strengthen families and improve children’s life chances.

We involve professionals, families, and children as active participants in our research and develop practices in collaboration with those who have deep insight into children’s lives. We generate practice-based knowledge that enables pedagogues to engage with different families and children and to help expand children’s opportunities and perspectives on their own lives.

Our Research Projects

Our research projects span a wide range of topics related to pedagogical work with families, children, and marginalization.

Collaboration

We work broadly with practitioners and other knowledge institutions and are eager to strengthen our collaboration with the wider community as well as with Danish and international research institutions.
